Description About the Exam :
Exams are conducted by Railway Recruitment Board to recruit candidates for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). Vacancies under NTPC are grouped into two categories: Under Graduate Posts and Graduate Posts. Candidates are recruited for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk positions in the ‘Under Graduate Post’. The posts that will be filled in the ‘Graduate Post’ are Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accountant Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master.
As per 2019 notification, total vacancies called for, in the ‘Under Graduate’ category was around 10000 and in the ‘Graduate posts’ category, vacancieswas around 24,000. Candidates should meet all the eligibility norms including age, educational qualifications,technical qualifications,and medical standards to be eligible for the posts.
The recruitment process includes 1st stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd stage CBT, Skill test as applicable, Document Verification / Medical Examination. 1st stage CBT is a screening test and is common for both ‘Under Graduate’ and ‘Graduate’ level posts. 100 questions will be asked, out of which 40 questions will be from General Awareness and 30 questions each from Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. The minimum qualifying mark for candidates belonging to UR and EWS is 40%, OBC and SC is 30% and ST is 25%.
